Thash Garden
Posted by Tangerinepiggy on May 24th, 2009 filed in HeapWell I have been saving up milk jugs for making my pocket lawn 2.0 as well as another project that is in it’s infancy (AKA a thought that passed through my head). The thing is I can only use one side of the gallon milk jugs for vacuum forming as the other sides yield pieces of plastic that are too small to work with. So long story short I was left with five one gallon milk jugs with a hole in one side. That’s when it hit me I could use them as planter boxes.
I took a knife and poked a bunch of drainage holes in the side that would now be the bottom and took a trip to my local coop grocery to pick up some tasty plants to grow and some dirt. As I got home it dawned on me that I did not have any gardening tools. I figured as long as I was using old milk jugs for planters I should use other old recyclables for the other things I would need. So I popped down to my apartments recycling bin (by now I think the neighbours are starting to wonder) and snaged a water bottle and an old juice bottle. I turned the water bottle into a scoop for my dirt by making an angled cut to trim off the bottom. The juice bottle I poked a bunch of holes in the lid at varying angles to make a water bottle. The plants seem okay but it is only day three so I will post updates as things come along. You can see some pictures of how it looks now here.
